OCC Watercolor EM using pan watercolor
Back again to watercolor using pan watercolors. I am using the same colors by Cotman for all the samples, stamp purchased at Micheals for my grandaughter, and 4 different papers. From top[right side of photo]
to bottom, the top sample I used children's watercolor paper, Premiere 140# Cold Press. The next sample I used Royal Langnickel 90# paper. next, Strathmore 140# Cold Press, and the 4th sample I used Canson 140# Cold Press paper. There is a difference in the texture of all the papers and also a difference in color of the Royal Langnickel 90# paper. The Premiere paper is inexpensive and has a rougher texture so that it required more watercolor to blend, dry brushing may work better or hard sizing the paper, and I did note that it seems to take color better with childrens Crayola markers.
Sept. 25, 2015 Watercolor samples OCC watercolor EM
Experimenting with markers and pan watercolor today. I began with Tombo markers and 4 different watercolor paper brands. The stamp used in this picture is a stamp I've had awhile from Hampton Art Stamps. I used Cold Press 140# watercolor paper by Artists Touch.

OCC DAY 2 Watercolor EM
Day 2 of OCC watercolor EM. WOW! Received a lot of instruction today so will work on one project using Distress ink pads. I have 4 different brands of watercolor paper to practice on so I can decide which gives best results. I'm using a less expensive brand that is marketed for kids also to trial...I think for the young artists it will be OK.
This is a Great Impressions stamp; stamped on Masters Touch Cold press 140lb. surface using Versa Fine Vintage Sepia ink and Distress Ink pads. I wet the paper first and applied inks with a #2 round brush. This is an inexpensive paper that my grandchildren use. It does warp abit and I think the distress ink does not blend as well, but it works good with the kids Crayola markers.

Monday coming 'round
Playing with my MacbookAir. I think I may learn to blog and journal if I can keep up with the technology. Quiet here this afternoon as I took Ande to Amelia's to join Ellie and Constance. The 4 girls have decided to teach dance to the little girls in the neighborhood. They have a system...meet and greet; fill out info forms on each girl(even includes food allergies), start with basic ballet; snack break and more dance...2 hours today. This is the hook; they are not charging a fee today but in the future when these tots want more tutoring...hope the teachers will survive today!!!
